About Pyramid

Pyramid Tennis Association, a non-profit organization, was founded by Arvelia Myers in 1973. Introduced to tennis late in life, Ms. Meyers won a number of championships in a wide variety of the American Tennis Association's northeastern tournaments. She then became the coach of Women's Varsity Tennis at City College.

It was her participation, as well as observation, at various tournaments that helped her to realize that inner city youngsters need earlier training and encouragement in order to compete successfully.

Her goal now is to strengthen the program and provide the youngsters with the means to compete in sanctioned tournaments. The rankings that the youngsters receive in these tournaments are an integral part of the process by which they are chosen for college scholarships.
